PlaceBook Publishing project
The project was born at the end of 2018 When we decided (Claudia Filippini and I) to create an alternative solution to both traditional publishing and self-publishing. It was first born under the name Pedrazzi Publisher and then, at the beginning of the 2020 take the definitive name of: PlaceBook Publishing & Writer Agency.
An author, both rookie and emerging, today you find basically two options:
- Propose your work to small publishing houses, that are generally paid for, either through direct requests for financial contribution or in the form of buying paper copies at full price... but there are also those who begin to pay royalties only after the first 100 copies sold, well knowing that hardly a book by a new author gets to that figure... there are also small and series Publishers NOT paid and this cheers us up, but they're a small minority.
- Il self-publishing that done in a home-made way does not bring any concrete results
We propose a new way of publishing, a kind of self-publishing driven and placed under the brand of PlaceBook Publishing. We are basically a Literary Agency with its own publications.
We bring the author to be able to publish his work within a project that has the primary purpose of conveying culture.
Here's what publishing with us offers:
- No request for money for every service offered.
- No obligation to purchase hard copies, if the author wishes he can have them with the 50% discount on the sale price... without obligation to a minimum of purchase, even one or no copies.
- We ask the author to make half for each of the earnings (Royalty) products from online sales, or through library, published volume.
- The rights remain of the author who at any time can request the early termination of the contract to publish without penalty of any kind. This also applies to PlaceBook Publishing, where certain conditions are not met.
- The text is done a professional editing always involving the author in the various steps flanking it in the narrative construction of future publications, where required.
- Being able to count on a team of experts in various fields (Weapons and actions of war, scientific where necessary, Esoteric, Pharmacological, Geographical).
- Designing and making cover art, professional pagination resulting from 40 years of experience.
- We provide them with free graphics for the posters of the events that will be proposed.
- We promote their work through both written and radio interviews, in collaboration with thematic blogs.
This is with regard to the practical part of the publication.
But the PlaceBook project is far broader. In the case of particularly deserving authors, should be being cared for by higher-end publishers, we help them to be contracted by representing them as literary agents, asking them only about the 20% future earnings to be paid for cash.
Nothing should anticipate.
The project also develops through the creation of the Facebook group: PlaceBook Publishing & Writer Agency, a virtual square where our authors meet their readers. The group is filtered in such a way as to ensure a peaceful and serene exchange of opinions and information.
This led to participants becoming friends by creating a kind of spontaneous and cohesive cultural movement. This also generated a virtuous circle where a post of a book is immediately spread virally on all the profiles of the participants in the group, multiplying the contacts of the post itself.
An integral and fundamental part of the project is KUKAOS. A "magazine" style site that deals only with culture. Our authors can write articles of interest to allow them to become better known by readers.
But KUAKOS is also a style of thought: the man in the middle. Man understood as "being" thinking in search of his own personal evolution.
The human element placed before the purely commercial one has meant that our authors can express themselves in the best possible way, without having to comply with the current market rules.
Our goal is to give those who are talented to get noticed, to be able to publish their work without having to be cannibalized by a market that often sees them as clients of publishing houses, but above all to trigger a virtuous flywheel that can unite free men and women in thinking and experiencing their emotions.
This led us to propose the contract to publication only after we knew, at least by phone, the author or author... if we understand that it's not in line with this philosophy, even if deserving, we don't publish it.
We want to be the change, now more than ever, after the COVID-19 disaster, we feel even more the need to propose culture, beauty and what art is, and we do it through our publications, Kukaos articles, virtual themed meetings and bringing together as many people as possible that we have our own need.
